French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Sunday invited US President Donald Trump, who commented on the “yellow vests” movement in France with a series of critical tweets, not to meddle in French internal politics.

“I say to Donald Trump and the President of the Republic (Emmanuel Macron) also said to him: we do not take part in the American debates, let us live our life of nation”, he declared in the program Le Grand Jury RTL / Le Figaro / LCI.
“We do not take our share of consideration on American internal policy and we want it to be reciprocal,” he added.
Donald Trump spoke on Saturday of a “very sad day” in Paris after a new demonstration of “yellow vests”, and called for ending the climate agreement signed in Paris in late 2015.
“Demonstrations and riots all over France,” he tweeted. The protesters “chant ‘We want Trump’. I love France,” he also wrote.
The French diplomat disputed that such statements in favor of Donald Trump were made.
“The ‘yellow vests’ did not demonstrate in English to my knowledge and to tell you the truth, the images that appeared in the United States and where we heard” We want Trump “were images taken at London during President Trump’s trip several months ago, “he said.
The tenant of the White House had already ironically Tuesday on the concessions made by Emmanuel Macron to “yellow vests” by suspending a fuel tax, believing that the Paris agreement was doomed to failure.

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs also scratched the strongman of the Italian government, the Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini, who regularly criticizes Emmanuel Macron.
“I can hear Mr. Salvini’s ranting (..) I leave him his words and his peremptory statements,” said Jean-Yves Le Drian. “He is (also) at the moment facing difficulties, demonstrations by several tens of thousands of people on the Lyon-Turin (rail) project. To each his difficulties, let’s respect each one,” he added.
